Default Question about using air shocks

I am thinking of running a set of the touring bike 13" air shocks on my 07 Street Bob. Could I eliminate the plastic air lines and just put Schrader valves in each shock? Then I could just pump each shock to whatever PSI I need. If this would work, what is involved with doing it? Are the shocks threaded for this and is it as simple as just buying some valves and screwing them in?

I don't have one of the shocks on hand to look at it, but generally speaking, shredder valves can go anywhere that a line can go.

It is as simple as that. Schrader valves do thread right in. I've had air shocks set up that way on my street bob for several years. Make sure you use an air shock pump so you don't blow them out and make sure air is same on both shocks.

Thanks guys... Now I need to find a good deal on some used air shocks.

Edit- Is it a good idea to go with a heavier weight oil? I read that I may need to change to 10 or 15 weight due to the different shock angle of the bikes. Also would I need to spacers or do the shocks bolt right up?

I'm using stock oil in mine. I think one up on the touring model suggests 5-10 psi for my weight. I run 25psi for desired comfort. I ride solo all the time (wife has her own bike). I'm 187 lbs. Hope that helps.

I generally run the 15 or 20w oil in any suspension that I have, but its a matter of preference for me. I would be more worried about rider/passenger weight than shock angle.

I have a set of 2013 RK airshocks that I had rebuilt by bitchen baggers and shorted to 12". Also have a Harley airshock pump. I posted them in the classified section in the spring but never had anyone interested in them. I decided that they where not the shocks for me and the wife. Only rode them for about 200 or 300 miles.
