Stock exhaust on 2016 wide glide vs Rhinehart
I am still trying to decide between the breakout and the wide glide have to go down to the dealership and check them out in person. But i noticed that the wide glide comes with 2 to 1 to 2 exhaust i have read that 2 to 1 makes more power but i like the rhinehart crossover shotgun style exhaust. My question is would the stock exhaust make more power than the aftermarket since its 2 to 1. i would hope not since i would think aftermarket would flow more. any help would be appreciated.
thanks

The stock exhaust on the WG has a catalytic convertor in the headpipe (I think it's in the mufflers on the Breakout). Pretty much any aftermarket option will outflow the stock setup given the restrictions HD has to work with. It's possible that a free flowing exhaust will make your otherwise stock bike feel softer on the bottom end, but that can mostly be dealt with by getting a good tune.
Also, a 2:1 doesn't necessarily make "more" peak power, but it can give you a broader torque curve.

It is a 2 into 1 into 2. The head pipes combine at the cat converter, then split back into 2 pipes. Now if you want a deal on a decatted stock exhaust with rush slip ons in black, drop me a line. I put a supertrapp on mine, Good Luck. Bill

The restriction on a stock exhaust is caused by the baffles and catalytic converter. Cut those out and the restriction is gone. I removed the baffles and replaced with straight pipe and it made a big difference. Left the cat in place along with the stock air cleaner. I have a '13 Wide Glide with the factory 2 into 1 into 2 tommy guns. If you want, I can post a link to let you hear it.
