My gauge was not all that accurate before the lift.

Use your trip mileage to keep track.

Many times, an after market "improvement" has downsides. You have to decide whether a look is more important than function. Bending the fuel float arm is a possible fix but it would certainly be a trial and error operation to get it accurate. That said, I wouldn't depend on a motorcycle fuel gauge even though I have one. Trip odometer miles reset at every fill up is my gauge. On my older Dyna I have a petcock which absolutely won't lie when fuel gets to reserve level. The biggest potential downside to a tank lift for me is the loss of usable fuel tank capacity.

When it comes to modifications and "fixes" from the aftermarket I use something close to the old shop theory. Look twice, buy (or not buy) once.

lift the front and back. i started to but, i was't keen on drilling.
