RE: FXDX shocks for street bob
Boy, you got that right!
I traded my FXDX in on a Bobber and my biggest complaint about the bike is the stock suspension.
Last weekend I did about a 250 mile run on a less that well maintained road and it became very apparent that the current setup does not compare to my old FXDX.
I'm thinking about upgrading the shocks as well.

You can see in the back that my rear fender is quite high. The shocks are progressive 418 but remain the stock 13.5".
Hope this helps.

I wanted to put the 418, 13.5 inch shocks on my SG but the progressive guys said NO.

iono where you live and how the road conditions are but in detroit running 11" progressives in a pothole absessed city my lower back is payin the price, not bad once i get out of the city where the roads arent as beatin up but its a good reason im keepin mid controls for awhile longer so i can easily brace myself for bumps and pots quickly.the slammed rearend look is pimpin but it does come with a price.... small price and withstandable but when one catches ya by suprise on these things with your back hunched , YOUCH![:-]

I don't know why progressive said "no". I don't remember the part #, but I know they still list them on their website.
I don't see what the difference is...the stock FXDX came with 13.5" and its a simple eye to eye mount.
Maybe progressive said "no" because ONLY the FXDX came with 13.5" shocks. Just a thought.
I like the way the FXDX handles and didn't want to change that so I stayed with the stock length. I've seen other FXDXs with 440 11"s and they just told me they watch the potholes and suchand the handling suffers.
