Default Lowrider S vs Streetbob Rake Difference

The HD website says the Lowrider and Lowrider S rake is 30.5 degrees at the steering head. The site also says the Streetbob rake is 29 degrees at the steering head. Is this the only difference in overall rake or do the bikes have different triple trees?

I ask because I am considering putting Streetbob triple trees on my Lowrider S to decrease / improve trail. A forum member told be the forks were the same length for both model numbers. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Thanks in advance.

Same 29° Frame
Sbob 0° Trees
LR 1.5° Trees

If you keep everything the same on your LR except for adding the 0° Sbob Trees (decreasing tree rake)...you will INCREASE your trail

Looks like the Tubes are same length (same # non cartridge side)

I am confused. Someone needs to break this down for me more I guess. My Lowrider S has the same size tires and same height rear shocks as a Streetbob. If I change the triple tree to a Streetbob triple tree (and you say the forks are the same) then my trail should be exactly the same as a Streetbob in my mind.

The HD site says the trail of a Streetbob is 4.7 and the trail of a Lowrider S is 5.1. How is your math calculating that adding Streetbob triple trees will increase my trail?

Anyone else care to chime in?

You need math to arrive at a value...You don't need math to know how changing the Rake affects Trail (increases or decreases).

After your statement..."I am considering putting Streetbob triple trees on my Lowrider S to decrease / improve trail"

You were basically saying "I'm considering putting triple trees with less rake to decrease trail"...I was just trying to get you back on track.

TREE RAKE
Take any given bike and ONLY add Trees with LESS Rake ...Trail INCREASES

Take any given bike and ONLY add Trees with MORE Rake ...Trail DECREASES

Btw, Neck Rake and Tree Rake affects Trail in opposite directions

NECK RAKE
Add LESS Rake to the Neck ...Trail DECREASES
Add MORE Rake
to the Neck ...Trail INCREASES

Does a third of an inch make any noticible difference?

Here's a calculator to prove the Theory to yourself...Values are for comparison

"ONLY add Trees with LESS Rake ...Trail INCREASES"

Hope it helps

In short, yes, the S, and standard DL have different trees then a FXDB. The pinch bolts on the DB are parallel to the wheel, where as the lowrider has them at an angle.

More importantly...they have different rakes. Unless you were just adding some visual cues

Previous post asked if the trees were different. I was simply pointing out that in fact, they are different trees. Given the listed variance in rake, I just assumed the trees would be the source.
