I'm changing the Sundowner seat on my FXDF for an FLD(switchback)seat,i 've been told by a parts department that i would need a pre 2014 seat,because the seat fitment changed on the '14 model year,it's the first time i've heard this mentioned about Dyna seats,can anyone tell me if this info is correct?

That is NOT correct, nothing changed as for fitment. I also have a 14' FXDF and have had multiple seats on it while in search of the best one for me, including a seat off a new switchback. 06'+ dyna seats are what your looking for fitment. I will say that I've tried about 8-10 different seats and obviously some do fit better than others.

 

Thanks for the reply,i should have said my FXDF is a 2011 model & the parts guy said i would need a pre 2014 seat for correct fitment(he actually said there where significant changes in fitment on the 2014 model year.
I'm not saying he's wrong,but on everything i've read about seats they list '06 to present as you have said,so i thought i'd ask in the Dyna section

 

Took the seats that I bought for my 09 Low Rider and use them on my 14 Low Rider.
1 is a Saddleman, 1 Street Bob, 1 custom solo. All fit fine. Just 06 and up should do!

I had Sundowner that I had bought for a 2010 Dyna, Bought a 2016 FXDL S and the seat was a perfect match.

 

sounds like your parts dept is confusing the dyna line with the touring line


touring is 8-13 and now 14 and up model years

 

What about seats before 2006? I have a dyna 2016 ... would a 2005 seat fit here? What are the differences?

 

Frame was different in 2005 and earlier if I recall correctly... someone back me up?
