Default Use loctite on exhaust bracket/tranny cover bolts?

I have to fiddle with my exhaust and I need to remove one of the two muffler bracket bolts so I can swing the bracket down.

My question is should I put blue on the bolt when I torque it down? The manual doesn't say so, and it usually does when required. But I've seen instances where it doesn't...

Just wondering. Tx.

I've never used loctite on the exhaust mounting bolts, just correct torque. I do put a bit of anti-seize on the bolts and as the anti-seize is a lubricant I reduce the torque spec by 15%. So far, never had one come loose or be over-torqued ::: knock on wood :::

Same here, no loctite on exhaust stuff...just torque. However, blue loctite couldn't hurt. If it makes YOU feel better do it.

Mchad is referring to the transmission side cover bolts,, V&H uses two lower bolts to hold the after market exhaust bracket.
That said;
I did. Matter of fact I changed the trany side cover and cam cover to chrome this last spring and used a a little blue on all the bolts for both covers.

like the commercials for that frank's red hot sauce - i put that s**t on everything...could be completely unnecessary, but loctite is relatively cheap...lol

Yes, this exactly.

So some do, some don't. Ok. Coin flip time!

Actually I pulled the bolts already, and the existing ones did not have any residue on them, so while I had the stick (I use the new Chapstick style loctite - very convenient!) I didn't this time.

I'll check them from time to time and if there's any loosening, on it'll go.

But thanks for the responses.

Oh, I know exactly what bolts Mchad was asking about; the 9/16" bolts used to secure the exhaust mounting bracket to the rear of the transmission case.

To the left in this image; covered with chrome cap covers secured with silicone I doubt it matters if you use blue loctite or do nothing but anti-seize; correct torque is the key to it...
