plastic bag around the filter, or cut a quart plastic pop bottle to fit under the filter, or get the drip tray that HD sells. I use the plastic bottle trick and works well.

I have done the plastic bottle thing myself. It seems to do the trick great and cheaply! Also when you are draining the oil if you can find a small funnel and a piece of rubber hose to fit over the end it helps to drain the oil.

Drain that bad boy and spray the daylights out of everything, including my bell, with brake parts cleaner - that's my deal. Frankly, I'm likin' the soda bottle.

Just jam a piece of cardboard under the filter, and let it come up around the filter between the filter and the crankcase. It will go only a short way and lodge in place, but that is plenty to catch the oil.
Then unscrew the filter and the cardboard will become the riverbed and direct the oil down into your catch pan on the pavement. Do this with the bike upright and you should not spill a drop on either the machine or the pavement......pg

Ziploc bag.
Get the filter started, slip the bag onand unscrew the rest of the way.

I make a cardboard funnel out of the box the filtercomes in. Then I spill anyway and end up degreasing and washing the bike.

I agree with pinion on this one when my father and I change the oil in the bikes we just get a piece of cardboard from a box and use it to let the oil run down that into the pan. Never had a problem that way works great.
