Question New Low Rider S owner - rev limiter question

Recently purchased a new Low Rider S and enjoyed putting some miles on it over vacation. Once broken in, I began to ride it a bit harder and noticed that I bumped the rev limiter a few times - each time I looked, the bike seemed to be nowhere near the 5,500 setting that I believe is where Harley set it at. In fact, rolling on the throttle slowly over 5,000 RPM in second gear would cause the rev limiter to kick in right around 5,250. Now the engine still seams to be pulling pretty hard at 5,000, so I would like to run it a bit higher. I know I can raise the rev limit when I flash the bike with an FP3, but what have others experienced with their stock bikes, and what have others raised their rev limiters to when reflashing bikes that - other than slip ons - are stock? Thanks for the help.

I raised my rev limit to 6250 when I installed my ThunderMax. I think that it was 5750 from the factory. It's just a simple stage one and even though there is a big bump in power, the torque curve flattens out well before I hit that number. Plus, I don't want to take a chance on floating a valve since they're all stock.

5500 TPMs in second gear may not be wise given the factory air/fuel mixture.
Why would you want it any higher without changing the mapping?

Your bike. Your money.

Like any engine, regularly hitting the rev limiter means it's gonna be ****ed long before it should be.

Unless you've had engine work done i see no point in raising the rev limit. Power is dropping off before you hit the limiter so you're better off shifting up.
