Well, thanks. Now that I've got my 96' upgrade finished to a very fine-performing 103, I am tempted to go again and make it a 110.
I looked at this option earlier when I did the 103 upgrade. However, I opted for a greater focus on suspension and handling instead of maximum power from the engine.
The only way I'd do the 110 upgrade is to have ported heads, proper cam, larger throttle body and injectors, exhaust etc. I think I got up to an estimated $6,000 for that job.
Oh well. It's only money.
I'll keep the 103 for a while but I will probably make another leap later.
One thing I like about my "new" 103 with a 204 cam is that it runs great but it gets tremendous fuel economy. I made a 3000 mile trip recently and the thing would return almost 45 MPG at 80 MPH.
I'm sure the 110 upgrade by Wghussy is great fun. I expect he has addressed the problem of clutch slippage with such an increase in power. Even with my 103 upgrade, I experienced slippage.
Rather than accept the heavy lever pull of a stronger spring, I installed an Alto Carbonite clutch and kept my light-pull spring. No slipping now and I have a super-light lever pull. I highly recommend the Alto Carbonite. It's well-made, fits and works well.
The 110 may need BOTH the carbon clutch and a heavier spring!
