Default Big Sucker - Normal?

Put maybe 3k on my Big Sucker and am noticing oil coming out of the bottom from time to time which ends up on the motor. Pulled it all off and the baseplate seems pretty oily.

Theres no leaks on the breather bolts, it's all coming from the bottom of the filter. I'm assuming this is just how it works and maybe there was a bit too much oil after my 1000k service, but figured I'd ask just to be safe.

It is surprisingly easy to overdo oiling a K&N filter.
It is also possible that there is a bit too much oil in the system and it is being puked out through the breathers, saturating the bottom of the filter, then dripping.

Until you vent that **** to atmosphere, yes it will be normal. Lots of threads on the subject.....do a search and spend some time getting to know the problem. Come back with questions, we're here to help.

Thanks everyone for confirming. I figured it was normal from a logical view, but didn't recall having the issue on my old Iron with the same setup so figured I'd ask. Doesn't bother me having to wipe it from time to time.

But it should bother you to be sucking back into the engine. Vent that externally and save your engine. DK Customs as well as other and DYI kits are available.

I see. Is this what you're referencing? http://www.dkcustomproducts.com/Twin-Cam-Discrete-Head-Breather-System-Touring-Softail-Dyna-DK-TC-BRT.htm

I couldn't find any write ups on the DIY way but if anyone has a link, I'd be interested.

Your puking oil out the breather bolts into the air filter and it drips onto the motor. Run a hose to vent from heads under motor. And the bottom of your motor wont rust, cause it's coated in motor oil. 2 problems solved...
