Hello, I currently have a 2014 HD sportster 48 candy paint and have been riding now for about 2 years. So I am still a green pea, but feel the need to move up into the dyna series. I am tired of always having to refuel and the rugged ride on the bike. I am nervous about this bc I am 5'3 130lbs and have looked at few. I worry about not being flat footed, the added weight, and backing up. Can anyone share any experiences moving up? Thanks in advance.
the weight of the dyna is noticeable at standing and shuffling it around. The sporty feels like a bmx in comparison. When riding, you barely notice the heft. Nice set of highway bars will help for oops moments.
like others said, go put a butt on a seat. Demo some bikes. Nothing to be intimidated by. It took me a while to accept the dynas ways.
I didn't move up to a dyna, I moved over.

Thanks for saying this, you beat me to it. I hate it when people say they want to "upgrade" from a Sportster. Those people probably shouldn't have bought one in the first place, because they obviously don't understand the strengths of a good Sporty...

I used to ride a Sportster. Lots of fun but not near as comfortable and smooth as my Low Rider. It leans and turns better and feels more "planted" than the Sportster did, probably because the CG is lower than the Sportster.
I doubt you'll have a problem handling any Dyna out there. Take a test ride on one and see first hand.

Used to ride a sporty when they were hard mounted to the frame, buzz city. I own a FXDL and sit pretty flat footed on it. A suggestion would be to visit a shoe repair (cobbler) shop and see about adding a thicker sole to your riding boots. If buying new visit the dealer parts and preview what seats they have to get you lower to the pavement. You'll enjoy the move up to a big twin.

EDIT~ Actually, the factory stock seat on the FXDL is a "low" profile seat. I suppose one could get the seat shaved down/narrower too though.
Here's a better pic~
EDIT~ She's wearing her regular boots here, but her Daytona Women's boots have a 2" lift built into them. The lift is not "all heel" as some of it is internal. (Kinda like Tom Cruise's lifts!)
