Default Jagg 10 row oil cooler w/ fan with Vibra-Technics and engine guard

I didn't see this posted anywhere so I wanted to share how to fit the Jagg 10 row oil cooler w/ fan on a bike with engine guard/Vibra Technics motor mount. Either of those will present some minor issues to fitment.

I did some test fitting with the fan assisted oil cooler. It looks like the fan is being pushed forward into the oil cooler by the voltage regulator. This is the gap it has un-installed:

And if you install it as is, the gap closes up:

I didn't like this so I found by shimming the bracket out by 0.15":

The fan bracket just barely clears the voltage regulator:

But the plastic cover holding the Front O2 sensor and crank position sensor pushes the fan forward anyway so it needs to come off:

I have some 1/8" flat stock I cut and drilled to use in place of the washers to see if it keeps this same relationship. The bolts for the motor mount I'm using for this test are 5mm longer than those that were on there previously which just about perfectly accounts for the thickness of the Jagg bracket and the spacer. They were in the bag of bolts included with the Vibra-Technics mount so didn't have to buy anything.

And for those wondering the Jagg does fit with an engine guard. It's tight, but everything clears:

I made a spacer out of 1/8" thick aluminum flat bar:

Still good to go:

The thickness of the Jagg bracket + the 1/8 spacer ends up being 6.47mm. The bolts I'm using are 5mm longer than the originals from the Vibra-Technics kit.

Hope this helps someone else in a similar situation.

Good idea. I've got the same Jagg cooler. I'll add the spacer when I reinstall mine this spring. And I'll be installing the Predator mount at the same time.

Well Jagg gets an A for customer service and an F for quality control. The NPT tee fitting for the fan switch wouldn't thread into the oil filter adapter block. Too much coating or poorly formed threads. Got that fixed. Installed the rest of the oil cooler by the book, rode up the street and saw oil coming out of the bottom of the adapter. Take it all apart and can't figure out what went wrong. Internet searching finds people talking about the anti-rotation bracket screws being too long (up to 7 years ago. .and made known to Jagg at the time) for the tapped threads in the adapter block. Sure enough after removing everything and checking on the bench the two bolts provided for the anti-rotation piece bottom out before clamping the adapter halves together.

Called Jagg, again, and they're sending a new gasket set and adapter block half. I can probably get what I have working just not sure I want to chance re-using the gasket and dealing with a mess again.

How much $ was that cooler? Does it have a thermostat for fan assist? And, how many *degrees will the 10 row reduce the oil temp?
PS, I had been following your motor build, are you happy with the results, & would you do anything different, in hindsight?

How much $ was that cooler? It's $550 retail. Shop around you'll find it a lot cheaper.

Does it have a thermostat for fan assist?
Yes, kicks on at 190 oil temp.

And, how many *degrees will the 10 row reduce the oil temp? I don't know
PS, I had been following your motor build, are you happy with the results, & would you do anything different, in hindsight? With everything I've been through the 124" from S&S would've been on the table.

I wonder if the LowMount version would have solved this issue with the close fit and need of the spacers.

Hey Matt, thanks for the reply! The Jagg oil cooler looks like an old heater core, I'm leaning towards the UltraCool dual fan, 17 row, with thermostat, oil heat Exchanger, the SS cover looks like chrome, SS fittings attached to braided lines, Made in USA, for $460. retail! The Bigger & Hotter the motor is, the better it cools, 30 to 90 degrees?
