Default How to vent your crankcase

trying to get info on how you guys vented the crankcase to the atmosphere instead of back to the intake? Is there a kit you use or what? Google hasn't been good to me on this cause my search question is too long.

edit: forgot to mention I have a 17 fxdls with the oem heavy breather air cleaner, and a se 117 big bore

I used a kit from dk custom products when I went to a new air cleaner from them. They make some to modify the stock cleaners and aftermarket non vented ones. I just routed mine down behind the mid controls to a filter. Not the best picture or cleanest install but serves it's purpose and good enough for me.

I'm using breather bolts. There are lots of different ones available. Mine are from Lowbrow.

(not a great option if you have a puker. They'll make a huge mess. My particular engine doesn't have any significant carryover)

There are many options and ways to vent the hot, oily, oxygen depleted crankcase gasses to atmosphere.

First off; what A/C are you running? If it's the type of A/C using standoff's you can simply drill and tap the standoff's and block the backplate where the hoses were running in and route the vent line in the manner of your choice.

I went with a DK Custom 587 on my '13 which was built to vent crankcase gasses to atmosphere. I've changed up my breather arrangement 6 or 7 times but really like the under filter breather arrangement; short hose runs so the engine heat still has the oil in a vapor as it exits the filter. A very clean setup.

Once we know your current A/C, we can help you with the steps you need to get it setup for external venting...

I did my own breather bypass and have a drain with a cap which I clean before each ride, also have the filter up front to help evaporate some of the condensation. Gobs yellow gunk/liquid come out when I drain it.
