Default Speedometer Calibration

I've recently installed the SE 180 rear tire on my 06 Wide Glide, and was told by a riding buddy that my speedo was short 3-5 mph compared to his 06 Ultra set in cruise control mode. My speedo would show 50 mph while his was showing 55.

Does this sound right? Can I have the speedo recalibrated by the stealer? What are the charges involved?

Someone with a SERT could tell you if the speed sensor frequency can be changed. My guess is it can be done easily. I have no idea what they would charge. If they have a DYNO with a speed readout one would think they could have it done in 20 minutes tops. Hell they may even know the frequency needed from past installs and be a 5 minute job.
All that said one would think they would include that with a 180 install. And i haven't read it needing to be done. Maybe your friends bike is off not yours? I calibrated mine when I went to a 170/60 tire. But I have a DTT TCFI 2ECU.

Thanks man,

I thought about that too. Maybe his reading is wrong! Anyway, the stealer never mentioned anything about re-calibrating when I asked about the installing the 180. I did the install myself.

I also am running a PCIII rather than the SERT. I guess I need to find a trooper buddy to actually clock me, and take it from there. Maybe an S&S calibration module is on the horizon.
