Default Question about Jackyl's Tank Lift...

Just got Jackyl's tank lift in the mail.

Question: Do I REALLY need to remove the gas from the tank before I install it? I have about 3/8 of a tank of gas. The reason I ask is that I was really hoping to do this tonight, and I don't have the equipment to empty the gas out.

Thanks

Did you get the 2" or 3" lift? The 2" does not require emptying the tank.

I would be interested in this also.
I have about 1/4 tank.
Tomorrow I plan to install 2" lift.

Not unless you want to replace the croosover line. With a 2" lift you hould be fine. Enjoy

I got the 2" lift.

I thought that removing the gas was a safety / weight thing. But I guess it's related to having to replace the fuel line, which I don't have to do with a 2" lift.

Punty is right. The crossover line should clear with the 2" lift. You could always use it as an excuse to go ride and burn gas!

OK - I'm done with work. Off to install the lift. I'll hopefully be back shortly. If you hear an explosion, call the Fire Department.

No Dice. On my '06 Super Glide custom, there is no way the tank is coming up 2" as all the cables coming from the tank are too short. Damn. I really wanted this for a ride this weekend.

I had to cut one of the cable ties in the front, then the tank went up just fine.
