Default slip on installation

Is it as easy as it looks? Im seriously mechanichly declined and have a very short temper when it comes to this kind of thing. Do the stock pipes just slip off and the new pipes just slip on? I just ordered cycle shack ovals for my 06 fxd and IM curious what kind of problems I might encounter. Id like to know before I get stated. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You.

if you want them to slip off very easy put WD-40 on the part end of the pipe where the clamp is. Otherwise it might be quite a fight. Also if you have a bracket underneath to hold both of your pipes together unhook that first. The rest should be a piece of cake. You should be able to change it in 30 minutes or so.

Piece of cake. I second the WD-40 advice, as those stock mufflers will be tight, despite loosening the clamps, and you don't want to rock the first muffler you attempt to pull off up and down into the other muffler, therby knicking it (if you care to keep the old ones around, that is). Don't ask me how I know this.

easy to put the new ones on. very easy . but, many times getting the old one off is a beech !! i had to beat on my stock ones for over one hour with a very big hammer and a block of wood on the pipes so not to tear them up.... then again some people says theirs came right off. good luck.it is easy most of the time. good luck !!! make sure you get the news ones tightened to torque specs !!! if not, they can come off , not to scare you. just get them tight .

yup i'm like u, not very mechanical......

I actually had my friend who knows bikes help me...
It was actually funny, we pulled them off but that bar that connectes the 2 mufflers
we had backwards so we couldn't get them on right....
Then we had to unscrew and reconnect them up.

Ahead of Time:
* Buy new Clamps
* bring a towel to put down on the ground to lay your parts out

1) Yes u can do it, take your time. put ur parts down in the order they were on (makes it easy)
2) Tighten the Hell out of the new mufflers
3) Re-Tighten after going for a quick ride getting them hot..

If they keep slipping on u, you could buy some High Temp Copper sealer at the auto parts store to
seal your mufflers.

As everyone said, they won't just "slip off". You'll have to work them, more than likely. They may even appear to not budge at all. Mine took a good grip and some wiggling to work them off. Put your temper aside and replace it with some patience. Knowing that they most likely won't be easy to get off should prepare you. And if they do just slip off, well...it was easier than you expected, wasn't it? That's never a bad thing. :-)

Getting the stock mufflers off is the hardest part. Be patient. The new mufflers just need to be tightened well and you're ready to go.
