ok here is the recomendation for the softail.. most on here know I would not own a dyna but they are good bikes just not for me, yes the shocks adjust easy on the dyna but then I have never had to adjust my softail shock, ride i'm going to guess about the same, I rode my softail to oregon and back last summer 2300 miles four of those days were 500 plus days no problems I am 66 yo. wife rides with me on occasion have to put the stock seat back on for that 2-3 hundred mile days. what ever you choose - enjoy

I would agree with all both bikes will be able to tour with the proper set-up. I like the fact you can use the detachable equipment and make it what you want. In my younger days I would jump on the old inline 750cc and do longroad trips without a second thought geez my pain tollerance was a lot higher than. I now complain about a sore rear.

I think either bike will work just fine. It's all about the seating.

If I could do it again, I'd have gotten an FL, .....Electraglide Standard,
I was seriously looking at one before I got my bob the 2K difference in price and the real fact that I don't tour is what steered me toward the Bob.I haven't been checking prices lately but I think for what you'd end up spending setting up a Lowrider or Soft Tail for touring you could just about buy an Electraglide Standard.Which is pretty obviously a better touring bike than either one.

I hear ya on the 750cc inline. I've got a '72 CB750 and I ride it once in a while to remember how much better and smoother the new bikes are. When I rode a new 750 my body was about 35 years younger. Now all I seem to feel is the vibration up and down my back and in all my joints. My bagger is still the smoothest and with 40k miles I plan to ride it a while.
