Yeah, the correct answer should be "who gives a $hit" IMHO. Torque is what moves it, by the time you are hitting peak hp on a stock motor you are hitting your rev limiter. And when you go to upgrade it go for torque and let the hp fall where it may... Sure it might sound cool to talk say you have a 100/100 bike, but I think pretty much anyone who knows their stuff would rather have a 110tq/62hp (I don't think those #s are possible, pretty sure hp would still be higher, but you get my point).

More specifically, anyone know how much torque I need to pull the front wheel up in first on my low rider?
Long standing arguement, but all the torque in the world does no good if you don't have momentum to use it.
More horsies are nice to have flying down the pike in 6th gear.
I think there is a good compromise in there somewhere, but Harley doesn't like to discuss HP.

Sorry, but a 110tq/62hp engine wouldn't stand a chance against a 100/100 engine. Torque (as well as RPM) is just one component in the formula for horsepower, and by itself torque says nothing about performance. Take look at the V-Rods performance compared to an air-cooled Harley, then get back here and tell us HP doesn't matter. Read the link below:

Well my example was bad because a 110tq engine would produce much more than 62 hp... It would be in the 80s or 90s most likley... But look at a V-Rod's performance, like a sports big, off the line a well tuned big V-twin will take it for the first few yards... And if you're hitting the twistys in the mountains you will pass them there again. Sure, horsepower matters, it gets you going faster once you are moving, but when you are tunning a big V-Twin, if you tune for torque, and you get allot of it, 99% of the time the horsepower that tunning will come with, will be enough.

Nice link though, thanks.
