I have a stock '07-96 inch motor. What is the horsepower of that motor. It amazes me...I can find the horsepower of my $100 lawn mover...but cant find the horsepower of my $17,000 Harley. Thanks

That's because Harleys are about torque. HP did not change according to AI magazine. About 62 HP. Torque's up over 90 I believe.

I saw an article posted on youtube recently about the new 96ci motor. They dyno'ed the stock motor at 65 hp and approximately 82lbs. ft TQ. Harley also has a dyno sheet comparison of their stock motor and one with some performance exhaust attached. Peak TQ is 82lbs ft TQ and 65 hp. The dyno sheet can be found under the accessories section of Harley's web page under the sub heading exhaust.

HTH

Lots of torque. Something like a diesel, more torque than hp,usually.

I think this is the number you are looking for:

07 96b = 89.7@2750 08 96b = 89@3300 07&08 96 = 92.6@3500

I took an average of 6 dyno reports from a couple different mags. Mostly from AI. The 07s averaged 66hp/80tq. Completely stock.

Yeah, the correct answer should be "who gives a $hit" IMHO. Torque is what moves it, by the time you are hitting peak hp on a stock motor you are hitting your rev limiter. And when you go to upgrade it go for torque and let the hp fall where it may... Sure it might sound cool to talk say you have a 100/100 bike, but I think pretty much anyone who knows their stuff would rather have a 110tq/62hp (I don't think those #s are possible, pretty sure hp would still be higher, but you get my point).

More specifically, anyone know how much torque I need to pull the front wheel up in first on my low rider?
