Default Plasti-Dip

So I Plasti-Dipped the lower forks, horn cover and belt guard. I hate the chrome look on these bikes. Of course, this is only temporary but I applied ten coats (I had a lot of beer to drink and time to kill) so it should be fine until I can afford to have everything Powder Coated. Actually, this stuff is supposed to last 4 to 5 yrs if you don't go pulling at it so I could leave it on longer but I probably won't. So why did I do this then, you ask? Because I did all this and it cost me about $30 bucks and that includes the price of the 12 pack of beer!

Anyway, the finish is exactly like the black denim so it looks like it was always part of the bike. Pretty happy with how it came out. I'll be doing the trees and turn sigs next weekend and I'll make the first coat lighter than I did here on these. The lighter the first two coats, the lower the chances of a run. But this stuff is very forgiving. It will self level in a coat or two. Either way, if you didn't like it, you can just peel it off (like latex) without doing any damage to the chrome at all. Pretty cool stuff. And it comes in about 30 diff colors. I'll only be using black.

Now I just need to clean it up a bit and hit the road!

Let me know what you think.

Hey Edsal, that's a good idea. I see plastidip is becoming more and more popular. Can you post again after a few months with how it is holding up?

I did my mirrors last year (I think) and they still look good. A few thousand miles (including rain). Look like they did when I sprayed them.
