Shifting noise loud!

Shifting noise loud!
Hey everyone, I am new here just wanted to say hello and ask a question. I bought a 2006 street bob and when I am shifting down in gear it makes a very loud snapping sound each time I shift down but I have noticed that if I slow down (in speed)and shift down through the gears slower then the snap isn't as violent sounding. Is this normal and why the **** would they make this that way? It's loud as hell. Its like I am cracking a bull whip each time I go down a gear.
P.S. Can putting pictures on this website get anymore diffucult? Why don't we just go back to using the DOS operating system on here as well.

RE: Shifting noise loud!
labrat,
I have seen multiple posts on here regarding problems, and even recalls on the primary bearing on the 06 Dynas.
How many miles are on this bike? I am assuming you purchased it used. If so, you still may be able to have the bearing replaced under warranty - if in fact that is why you are experiencing the problems you describe.
You can call your local HD dealer and give them your VIN. They can tell you if your bike needs the bearing replacement recommended in the notice. You can also go to the HD web site, click on service, and enter your VIN to see if there are any notices on your bike, but calling the dealer is easier and they may have more info.
Good luck....

When I crack my bullwhip, sounds like a rifle shot.
I'd do something about it if it is as loud as you say.
