side mount license plate wiring
I have '06 Dyna Street Bob. I boughta dreamweavers' vintage side mount license plate. It is a model A light. Their site is www.dreamweaversprostreet.com
Anyway, the license plate has 2 wires, whichhas ablack (ground) andthe other isgreen. I am not sure. The plate light has 2 bulbs: one is forrunning and brake n the other is located on the bottom, that is forthe license plate. So my question is whichwire should the green wireconnect to?
Thanks,
Chris

RE: side mount license plate wiring
There is no ground......... . .or should I say....it grounds itself..to the swingarm.....I dont remember which one was for what..........but I do remember that When I hooked it up..I had it backwards..............The not so bright is running light....and the bright is brake............. If you switch them.......Bright as running it gets to hot and will burn the socket.....I know from experience............. . .so hook'em up.....or do a test before you get fancy with youre wiring to make sure its right.................Hope this helps.............or makes sense........If not pm me and I'll walk you through it................................................ ............. . . . .............

RE: side mount license plate wiring
i see, there are 3 wires in the harley - black, purple, blue. I'm guessing the green wire is the running light? and the black is the braking? the whole plate is ground when attached to the swing arm. I'd like wire diagram for better clarification. I'm kinda confused with the ur description. Sorry, I am still learning.

RE: side mount license plate wiring
i already put the bracket on the axle. i hooked the black wire to the black wire that goes to the stock tail light under the seat. then hooked thegreen to the blue wire. The lights works, but when i hit the brake, it doesnt work, it just stays on while the bottom light is out. so lolife mention that the black wire isnt ground, it could beeither connect to the blue or purple wire. I just dont want to cut up so many wires under the seat.
