Will this Avon tire fit, instead of using dunlop 180 tire?
iam about to change my rear rim to a deuce rim for my streetb0b. since iam changing it and need a new tire i might as well get it now. i wanted to go to the 180rear tire, but the only 180 tire i found was the dunlop 180. i have heard that the dunlop wear quick and get slippery fast. theni have heard nothing but great things about the metezeler and avon tires, but they dont make a 180 tire for the 4-1/2 wide rims only 5.0- 6.0 rims. so i did some searching last night and found this all purpose sport touring tire by avon (Avon Storm ST AV56 170/60zr17). if you compare the specs from the avon and the dunlop you only lose 2 mm of width. the avon 170is 175mm wide and the dunlop 180 is 177mm wide. i just want to make sure it will fit befor i order something that doesnt work, iam not a tireologist. thanks for any info or input.thanks jackyl

Sorry I can't help you Jackyl, but I can tell you that I think the Deuce wheel will look great on your bike. Is it a chrome or polished rim?

I run a 170/60R17 Metz 880on the rear of my 06 WG on the stock rim so you should be fine. There is plenty of room under there. People have fit 200mm tires with a change of wheel so room is not an issue. I have also run a Dunlop D220 170/60R17 and it was a great tire for handleing but only lasted 5k miles. The Metz 880 doesn't do as well traction wise as the D220 but does well and is lasting well over 5k miles.
The radial rear and bias on the front is not an issue. Harley does it from the factory on a few models.

The tire will fit great, but it is a radial. You will never find a100/90-19 radial front to match. Maybe the old thoughts on mixing radial and bias tires are changing?
