I am trying to take off the stock headlight on a 2000 FXDX. I need to remove the wire lugs from the plastic connector so I han push the wires out the grommet hole. (see pic below) I have tried needlenose and pulling on the brass connector but it wont budge. Is there a trick? Or do ya cut wires and splice?

This tool replaces # 97362-71

 

bob, look into the slots outlined in red above.

There will be a barb that needs to be pushed back
allowing release of the wire with fitting.

I haven't done one of these in a long while,
the barb may be accessed from the other side,
don't remember which side.

It's real easy with a scribe or really small screwdriver.
