I know this issue has been covered..... Been searching threads and havent found what I need. Getting ready to put new rubber on my 2003 wide glide and want to go with a 180 on the rear.

Some questions -
Has anyone done this mod?
What will I need to do?
Anyone put a deuce wheel on an 03?
What size tire?
Would like to see some pictures of a 180 on an 03.

i have a 02 fxdwg and put a chrome deuce rear wheel on it without any modifications. it had a new 170 tire on the wheel so i used it and it fit easily under the fender. a 180 would probably fit but you would have to watch the nuts on the inside of the bolts holding the fender to the struts, may have to use a flatter nut if you are a heavyweight and the shocks compress a lot when riding. some people have said they have to slightly trim the lower belt guard or simply remove it for looks if desired in order for the wider tire to fit.

for routine applications, go to the "do it yourself" section on this forum and look under the "chassis, suspension, etc" subdivision. about 5-6 threads down is one entitled "harley rim sizes" that will take you to a link that gives the stock and maximum sizewheel and tires usable on various twin cam models without any major modifications.

I'm running a 160/70/17 on a duece wheel 17x4.50 .It fits with 1/4" on the sides!
