Default SE ignition control module

A friend of mine has an 05 Sportster 1200C.

He just picked up a SE ignition module and is having some trouble getting it to work.

As far as I can tell, from his description, this is simply a plug and play system.

His bike did not come with the factory security system, however as soon as he hooked upthe SE ICM, the "alarm key"LEDlit up
on his dash. He tells me this is the first time he's seen it lit up. He has nofob. Anyway, the bike will not fire with the ICM
hooked up. If he disconnects it and re-connects the stock set up, the bike fires. He tried to follow the instructions in his owners manual for disarming the security system, but to no avail. As I said, his bikeisn't equipped withthe security system.

Anyone have any experiences like this?

Anyone have any ideas?

I have the factory installed security system, but have never had it engaged. (Always have the fob). Does the security system prevent your plugs from firing? Could the ICM somehow have a security feature built in?

Any and all replies are welcome.

Thanks,

Ray.

I know it disables the fuel pump to keep it from running, not sure what else it would do...

Thanks for the reply ... this is what I'm looking for.

He tells megas isgettinginto thecylinders .. Plugs are wet when he takes 'em out. Which means they aren't firing. Do you think I can rule out the security system?

It would make sense, as hetells me his bikewasn't equipped with the security system.

I found this with a google search. I wonder why the search function on the site didn't work?

Oh well. I'll give buddy this info and see if it helps.

Hmmmmm, fuel in the cylinders? I may be wrong about the pump disable thing, then.
I figured that's usually the easy way to keep anything fuel injected from running. No fuel, no fire.
Maybe it just disables the ignition. Can he hear the pump running?

Ding, ding. We have a winner.
Sure sounds complicated, but so did coding a new key fob. But it wasn't.
Thanks for the link Razor
