I'm a big fan of doing a full motor build. You could save a bunch of money and labor if you just went with a 103 and then do heads cams, high compression pistons, adjustable pushrods, roller rockers, rocker supports, a SERT, a good 2 into 1 pipe, and an air cleaner. You probabaly could even just build up the 96 motor with the good heads and all listed above and eat a 103 stage 1. I really don't reccomend harley cams because Woods has a better selection. I know there is no replacement for displacement but a 110 still at a 9:8 compression ratio or whatever it is won't be as exciting as a 96 or 103 with 10.5:1 or better with a ton of power.
also if you do a 110 you have to split your cases and you should do a SEflywheel if you plan to do a high power high torque build
good luck

the SE 110 is not worth it. look at the power they are getting out of it in the SE catalog. i would be ashamed if i spent all that money and that was what i got out of it. i'm assuming you are still under warranty and that is why you are thinking of going that route, so you can maintain your warranty. i just had to come to the realization that i wanted to go faster and that going through HD to do it just is not cost effective so i said ***** the factory warranty and tore into my junk and used aftermarket parts. coming soon--- 110 with 10.5 to 1's, woods tw6hg cams, and a bunch of other little goodies.

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I don't think going to 103" or 110" is a stage 1 project. I'm pretty sure that would be a stage 2 build. Stage 1 is pipes and air cleaner. Yes you can build a 96" motor that will eat a 110" motor up. The 110" and 103" are tame for reliability.
