yet another problem
hi all, i will be going away to a bike rally a week on saturday so i decided to install the bike rack ready to put the camping stuff on. only when i came to remove the fender mounting bolt just before the rear turn signal on 02 wideglide wtf it spins but doesnt unscrew the air in my garage suddenly turned blue. i tried holding it with a pair of pliers the other side but theres nothing to hold onto to stop it spinning. has anyone also come across this problem or any ideas what i can do i have a feeling i will need to drill it out. help

Same problem
I have an 07 Wideglide and I ran acrass the same problem. While I went to start to break the bolt loose it went (snap).and it broke. I went ahead and got the other bolt off and inside the fender there is a flat bar that has threads on each end for the bolts to go into. Same problem nothing to hold onto. Once I took that bar out (not sure what its called) I was able to push the bolt from the inside and get enough room to cut it off with a hacksaw. I don't know if an 02 is the same as an 07, but that was how I had to do it. Hope this helps and good luck.

Just an FYI - instead of using a hacksaw; buy a Dremel with the metal cutting attachments and you'll go through that metal almost like a hot knife through butter. I've hemmed and hawed on buying one, but after the first time using it, I couldn't believe I didn't get one earlier.
