Generally, I only use Loctite where called for or where I feel it's needed. Following proper torque specs has always worked as it's supposed to for me.

I pretty much use blue loctite on nearly everything......I also have to agree that following proper torque specs is necessary too. However it doesn't hurt to add few drops of "blue".....esp when you experience a bolt that unexpectantly "ejects" from the bike....not that it's ever happen to me or anything...

I'd put Loctite 'blue' on every metal fastener - unless it comes in contact with cheap plastic, which at this point I don't thing there's any on a HD. Heck, I even used 'blue' on a vacuum sweeper repair - until I discovered it caused the plastic it came in contact with to dissolve...

I use it on about everything. I lost my shifter peg about 5 mi. from the dealer the day I picked it up. Last week the shifter linkage came apart while I was riding on the highway, went to downshift and the shifter was laying on my foot.

I put blue locktite on everything metal now, I put a P-Clamp on my handlebars to mount a GPS temporarily to see how I liked the position and took a little 10-15 minute ride and came back with one screw missing.

Be careful what you put the red locktite on, that is powerful stuff.
