Can I put a FXDWG wheel on my FXDL?

Can I put a FXDWG wheel on my FXDL?
I want to replace the stock 19" cast wheel on my 2008 Lowrider with a 21" laced wheel from a 2008 Wide Glide.
Are the axle sizes the same on both wheels? 25mm?
Will the spacers from my Lowrider work? (is the width of the laced hub the same as the width of my cast wheel?)
Will I have to buy a new brake rotor? (I think the rotor bolts to the hub on the laced wheel, my lowrider rotor bolts to cast mounts on the wheel)
I'm too embarassed to ride with these stock cast wheels any longer.

RE: Can I put a FXDWG wheel on my FXDL?
I hate to tell you, but with a 2008, your options are very limited. You will need to find a set of take-off laced wheels from another 08 mid-glide.
Other than that, you ar elooking at buying laced wheels from the dealer or possibly having someone like hdwheels.com to build you a set. Not cheap either way.
I guess you could check into fitting a 06-07 pair of sliders and swingarm on your 08.

I didn't think I'd have a problem with the rear. My FXDL seems to have the same axle and swingarm as theFXDWG. The front iswhereI figured I'd have a problem. Mostly because of the difference in tripletree widths. Plus the way the rotor attaches to the wheel.

Your biggest hindrance on the front will be the new 25mm axle. Putting a set of chrome sliders from an 06 or 07 may be the easiest way to do a used laced wheel.
I don't know if the back axle is 25mm or 1". If its 1", anything from an 06 and later Dyna will fit. If it is 25mm, you may look at a swing arm swap to widen the spectrum of wheel you can use.
The rotors on your cast wheels won't fit the laced wheels.
You may do good to get a parts manual for your 08 and compare the numbers of rotors, axles, sliders, swing arms, and wheels with the folks here with 06 and 07 manuals.

I've learned a few things researching this question.
[ol][*]A wide glide hub is too wide to fit into a narrow glide front end.[*]The wide glide wheel is laced differently than the others so a hub from a narrow glide can't be substitued and relaced.[*]Harley doesn't make a 21" laced wheel for the narrow glide Dyna's, only a 19".[*]The new laced wheels from HD have a smooth curved rim, called Profile.[*]The spokes on the Harley laced wheels are NOT stainless steel, and therefore, probably not worth using.[*]The guy at the Harley store told me it would work, but it won't.[*]There are several aftermarket wheel manufacturers that sell really nice stainless and chrome wheels that are fully assembledwith bearings, spacers, etc., but they are expensive.[*]I could have saved a lot of shoe leather if I had just listened to my brothers on HD Forum instead of doing the legwork myself.[/ol]
