Not sure if this isthe right section to put this, but my 96 is on a Street Bob so here you all go:
What is the approx hp for a 96 cu hd motor? Also, does anyone have any links to how a HD 96 engine works (moving parts) with a moving visual pic? Thanks!

 

If I'm not mistaken, stock, those motors are pushing 62-63 HP.

 

Basic V-Twin operation.

 

The diagram helps me to understand a bit too. It looks pretty basic.

 

I just showed your picture to my 17 y.o. daughter and she comes back with, "It still makes no sense to me." and walks away.

 

High sixties for stock HP. Varies a bit from model to model because of exhaust differences. Also, I have read that the 96B (in the Softtail) will produce a little less because of the balancing mechanism used.

I always wondered by the spec sheets on harelys page show the softail 96s with less torque, I guess that is it. Harley's info gives 91 ft. lbs @ 3125 rpm for the Dyna, 86 @ 3200 for the Softail.

Stock: 68.9 hp 85.5 flbs
Just SE pipes: 69.1 and 86.1
Pipes and AC: 78.9 and 91
I wasn't clear from the article what they did for fuel managment, if anything.
