Default questions questions questions!

had some very generous people help me out with a service manuual for my 07 street bob

i have tools for days except for a torque wrench what do i need one in foot pounds and inch pounds couldn't you just convert say 24 inch pounds to two foot pounds?
and what is more useful 1/2 ince drive or 3/8 ince drive?

and i suppose where you can't get a ratchet and it calls for a torque spec you all just use a crows foot correct,

sebring west has a closeout for 19 bucks for a half inch torque wrench in pound measurements they got one left to hold for me, sounds like a good deal what do you think and what do you use, i have been quoted everything from 19 dollars to 149.00 dollars for a digital torque wrench over the phone

help

Default RE: questions questions questions!

I bought a torque wrench at the local auto parts store for 49 and it works great i already had an inch pound one from when i used to do auto work mine is a half inch one and I bought adapters for 3/8 and 3/4 in case i needed them. mine is the twist handle kind with the resverable ratchet head. If you are going to work on your bike yourself you need to get one. I have not run across anything i needed a crows foot for yet

crows foot might be nice when you go to do the clutch adjustment in the primary.

I'm a mechanic and my torque wrench in foot pounds does not go to 2 foot pounds. The best thing to do is to get both inch pounds and foot pounds.

Soup48 is correct.&nbsp\\;Also, if you use a crows foot , except when instucted to do so in the manual, you get an incorrect torque value.

ok i went to sebring west and they had a sale on torque wrenches i bought the 1/4 inch drivre torque pound wrench that goes from 10 pounds to a 150,

they also had a 3/8 inch drive torque wrench for 15 bucks regular 45, but the inch icrements started at 120 and went to 960 is that too much it seems like where it calls for inch torques its like 20 or 30 which this wrench won't do am i right or wrong here, cause i'll go back in a heartbeat and buy it for that price, they close in an hour and a half and will hold it,

doe anyone know for sure if it will work?
