Default ? for big guys running 412s on Dyna

I'm 6'2" and 270 lbs. and was told to go for the "heavy duty" version of the Progressive 412 11.5 inch shocks for my 2008 Super Glide because of my size and because I ride 2 up sometimes. Do they normally ride so rough? I have them turned to 3 and it feels like I'm riding my rigid. On a softer setting they were very bouncy. Doesn't help that the roads here in NYC&nbsp\\;are beyond terrible. Should I have gone for the regular version or the longer 12.5 inch&nbsp\\;versions?

Longer would help, the standard shock would really suck.

One of my brothers is 310lbs. When we built his FXD a couple of years ago, Progressive provided us with their heaviest springs for a pair of 12.5" 412's and we went with heavier front springs as well from race tech. He's ridden to Sturgis and back from Calgary in comfort...

I'm 6'4", 240 and put some 12" 412 HD's on mine.&nbsp\\; Dialed them in to the second setting and they feel great.&nbsp\\; Not too stiff and not too bouncy.&nbsp\\; No bottoming out even when the wife is on the back.&nbsp\\; Significant improvement in handling as well.
