I think the schedule is for it to be checked every service interval (5k miles), or every other.&nbsp\\; Wouldn't hurt to make sure it is still in there during each service.

 

check it as often as you want, but never add any.&nbsp\\; brake fluid doesn't evaporate, and you don't use it up like you do engine oil.

if you notice it's lower then it used to be, it's because your brake pads are seeing wear, and there is more fluid filling the calipers.&nbsp\\; If you add fluid to bring the level back up, you'll have a mess when you change the pads out and have to recompress the calipers.

If you're excessively low, check along the brakes lines, as well as at the calipers and master cylinders/lids.&nbsp\\; There is no where for brake fluid to go except to leak out.

 

I don't bother if I know I start with it topped up. It's a closed system and if there is no external leakage the level will be ok. It naturally goes down as pads wear but there is still plenty left to work with. If you top it off with worn pads, when you replace them you will have too much fluid when done.

I check mine every 5k and I change it every 2 years, 3 years max.
