Would be advised to get the Harley download if you swap to the slips-ons as you'll run even leaner and hotter than the standard set-up, there by risking engine damage. The short shots staggered and VERY loud - I'm a great believer than loud pipes make other road user more aware of you but even I'm a bit edgy riding past old bill. If you don't labour or over rev I think you'll be ok. I'm planning on some European touring next year so I'm not sure about getting the optional baffles!
Not true - if you just swap the stock pipes for the SE II's and make no other changes then there will be no issues with running leaner or hotter. The standard settings on the HD fueler has a +/- 10% tolerence which will more than compensate for the change in 'mufflers'. You only need to do the fuel pack change and download etc. if you change the air cleaner and intake setup to allow the bike to breathe or you change the entire exhaust system and get rid of the active exhaust valves.
Come to think of it I have loud SE II slip ons I took off which are in as new condition with around 2K dry miles on them that you could buy off me and save yourself a bunch of money as you wouldn't need to do the stage 1 and fuel pack conversion if you just change the stock slip on for these. Then you see how you like the louder pipes - just a thought!
Are the slipons still available? just joined forum.
