Based on those facts, will you be going back to the 200?

How about some side shoots of the 150 front tire? That looks really good! Im thinking going wider in front now!

Ok about the performance aspect.
Your not going to loose performance going with a wider tire. Because one your going to be putting on a wider tire on a same size rim. This will cause the tire to be more round and less flat. Two, the performance will change the more straight miles you put on your bike this hold true to any round tire. So this idea of loosing performance while in turns is neutralized. If anything you gain performance due to the wider tire same size rim effect. Also you will gain performance cause the 200tire tire is. 5 inch shorter. This is also why it will wear faster.

I ran a 200mm metzler for about 12k with NO issues. No noticeable ill effects running the 200mm. I also have a 150mm on the front. Here is a pic of both... These are on my new rims, but both worked well on the stock wheels as well...

I realize this is an older thread, but in hopes someone still gets notifications of actions here, I want to ask a question.
With Passenger and overnight gear, I am right at about the max suggested weight for the Dyna. Would anyone who has put a 200 on a factory rim have reservations of the 5 inch rim instead of 5.5 when riding two up?
Also the new Avons claim 15K warranty, would you suggest Avon or Metz?
Thanks!

A 5" rim is too narrow for a 200. A 200 should go on a 6" or 6.5" rim.
Sure, a 200 can be mounted on a 5" rim, but it'll distort the carcass. That may become an issue with weight/heat. A 170 fits a 5" rim a lot better. The "look" isn't THAT much different.

The Avon tire site calls for a 5.5 rim, Factory Fat Bob is 180 on a 5.
Research is telling me that the Avon 200 is actually like 195mm.
And I have read multiple threads with people mounting the 200.
I was just concerned about the weight.

There seems to be many people who seem to think the tire manufacturers recommendations are just that....a guide line. I had a indie argue with me that a street bob rear was 5" enough though thru his own admission it was stamped 4.5" Then went on to say a 200 was going on it for his customer

Contact pattern is smaller mounting a tire on a more narrow rim. But your not at the track so I wouldn't worry too much..

That bike looks awesome.
