Question Help with replacing rocker box covers

So... I want to copy at least a few of you and replace the stock rocker covers on my Fat Bob with wrinkle black covers. I had initially planned to only replace the upper rocker covers (much easier job) and picked up two upper covers (#17620-99) and two gaskets (#17386-99A) from Zanotti H-D earlier this summer.

I've since reconsidered and want to do the lower rocker housing too. I just took a look at Zanotti's and the part numbers for the lower rocker housing and gaskets seemed to have changed. It appears the lower rocker housing is now #17618-99A (instead of 17618-99) and the gasket is now #16719-99B (instead of 16719-99A). Any idea if the new lower rocker housing and gaskets will have any issues with the upper rocker covers I already bought? Anyone know what changed?

wow that is sad no one helped you out bud! i have a st bob and did mine almost 2 years ago but they should work... as long as the gaskets line up i would say go for it! remember to get a dog bone adapter for torquing those bolts down to spec... pretty strait forward job!

Thanks man... I'm guessing the newer part numbers have some kind of improvement... maybe the MoCo was having issues with leaks or something. I'm placing the order for the new ones.

Sounds like it is a pretty straight forward job. Only tricky part might be getting the piston at top dead center... but I've got the service manual and I looked over a few of the posts here.

Can't see there being any issue at all and I have no idea what the changes are. I do know that it is one of my most favorite mods. I considered doing only the upper but figured I wouldn't like the way the left side looked. You also might consider breather gaskets (I didn't and it was fine) and the o-ring that sits in the lower rocker (did that one) although I did replace the breather gaskets when I did the stage II work.
