there is a special tool that jambs the primary chain and the clutch up so you can tighten the bolt.

go to Jimsusa.com and ck it out.

As noted you need a Special "tool" that jams between the gear sets. I made one out of a long screw driver as I was putting on forward controls on my Dyna on a Sunday and removed the inner and outer primary cases and all associated "stuff." Didn't want to wait and order the tool. Cut the screw driver to length and ground down the shaft until it looked like a two ended screw driver - also rounded out the blade area so it wouldn't scuff the gears. Worked like a charm. I believe the service manual states red locktite on the nut.

-guess what .... you ain't done.... there is a service bulletin for this problem!!!!!
you need to go back in there loosen the nut. and reapply loctite red... next torque to 75-80 ft-lbs.. score the nut location with a marker(line on nut and sprocket to indicate the position) then tighten the nut till the score mark is 30-45º tighter than the line on the sprocket....

165 ft-lbs is not enough to stop the nut from coming loose again!

don't overdo the loctite...only a couple drops are necessary....
Google : m-1170 service bulletin
gives you correct instructions and diagrams...

{worth mentioning} you should have the threads spanking clean of oil before applying the loctite
