Oh, don't misunderstand, I'm not busting on anyone. I just wish people would take more ownership of their ride, that's all; it is an HD after all and it does require a bit more care than some want to give it. With a few simple tools and the owner's manual you can keep yourself out of plenty of trouble that puts you in the dealer's service bay.

I'm not suggesting people do the sort of stunning work that you've done on your Wide Glide, just that having a basic understanding of how these bikes work would be of benefit and save them the from the dealer visit when it comes to the simple things like A/C, exhaust, and fluid changes. Between the SM, the owner's manual, and this forum, most owners could do a majority of their own work...

 

Loud, offensive noise? V&H Short Shots take some beating.

 

Yeah they are loud but not in a good way. I'll try and explain the sound.

I agree with this... everyone says how loud they are and how they are setting off alarms. I'm over here trying to figure out what is wrong with my exhaust, it's far to quiet on idle and still pretty quiet on throttle. I am thinking LAF drags with the power cones...

 

I don't think I could take anything louder than my Short Shots. Not bad just cruising but obnoxiously loud under acceleration !

My bike with Short Shots, BCT baffles, and SE204 Cams.

 

i just got V&H shortshots installed on my super glide yesterday. looks great and sounds even better. i wouldve rather had the big radius 2 into 2, but price was the main factor here. i just wanted anything louder than my stock pipes and im very pleased with how the shortshots sound.

 

Stock headers with Cobra 3" slip-ons, great sound with the 204 cams. Not obnoxiously loud but a nice sounding loud.
