Default Homemade Side License Bracket

Here's one I have seen yet...

I've been wanting to side-mount the license plate for a good while now, but am too cheap (or prudent?) to fork out $100+ for a good bracket. Anyway, last night I put passenger pegs on the Bob. Once I was done with the pegs, the plan was to do as member Up In Minot did with his bike, and bend the stock license bracket to the right shape, then hang it off the rear belt guard bolt.

Anyway I went through the usual steps to mount the pegs., remove the upper belt guard and the L-shaped bracket that holds the front of it to the frame, bolt on the peg mount, reinstall belt guard...

...then it hit me. That hefty, now-useless L-bracket would be perfect to hang off the rear upper belt guard bolt as a license holder, and far more sturdy than that stock bracket.. It's dark out now, but I'll have pictures of it up tomorrow. It's hardly a permanent solution (although it's about 1/4" thick so it'll last longer than the plate probably will) but damn if it didn't get that nasty stock bracket off my fender! If anyone's in the same boat I was, too thrifty at the present time for a manufactured bracket, this thing should do the job for a while (if you still have this L-bracket). I picked up an LED light at Wally World tonight...I'll be adding that tonight or tomorrow so that my plate's legal.

I got up to 60 on the local roads today...it didn't. Everything's torqued down pretty hard, and I've got a frame on the plate itself.

I did it too, (used the heavy L bracket ) mounted off the rear belt guard. I posted a thread on this two years ago an suprisingly no one seemed all that interested ??

I've had it on the bike for two years now ... no rattle / noise .. and solid as a rock. Consider it a Free gift from the motor Co ..
