Post FatBob - rear brake help

Getting ready to swap out the rear brake pads for Lyndall's. Looking at the shop manual it wasn't (isn't) clear to me - can anyone confirm the the socket size/type required to remove the pin? I was thinking it was a 1/4" 12 point, but the book says metric?

Which ever it is, I need to go and buy some as I don't currently have any sockets small enough.

The pin on the rear is a different size (smaller) than for that on the front caliper

Cheers,
-Jack

you can get them at sears... get a deep dish socket it is a bit easier but you have to make sure you get a 12pnt!!!

*do not forget high temp brake pad greece as well!

At lunchtime today I went to Sears and picked up a set of 12 point sockets - 3/16 through to 9/16, so i should be covered (need 'em anyway). Rode up to HogPro this afternoon after work to pick up the correct pads - it was a b*itch in traffic only using the front brake (I like to use my back brake), but now I'm all set.

I took the day off work tomorrow - gonna put the bike up on the J&S Jack (that thing is sweet) and take my time with it. Gonna reference Lyndall's piston cleaning procedure.

I love it when I can have a day to myself to work on my bike - wish there was some way to do it and get paid for it

Thanks for the help guys

Cheers,
-Jack

Just looking to get some decent pictures in the smaller window of daylight hours, but in short, it looks like crap

That's what I figured... post up some pics so we can all make fun of how it turned out.

I assume you doing the front brakes too? I'd be interested to hear how you like the new brake pads. I'm expecting to get Lyndall Gold Plus pads for Christmas this year.

Do you need to use the H-D lift adapter kit with the J&S jack? I've heard some good things about their lifts... made in WI.
