Anybody replace there in tank fuel line instead of replacing the whole assembly? I have three locations that have contacted the inside of the tank and have worn down the outside of the tubing, and one has a pin hole.
I think the fix would be to use Gates SAE 30R10 Submersible Fuel Line, using a shorter length so that it doesn't hit the tank walls, and/or putting tie wraps on those contact points. Harley only sells the one line from the tank quick disconnect to the regulator/filter, the other line requires you to buy the fuel pump.

I am getting ready to pull the guts out of my tank and ran into this thread. I think I will replace this fuel line while I am in there. I have a NAPA warehouse nearby and they stock thsi Gates hose.
Here's the low budget fix for the leaking factory fuel lines caused by fuel lines rubbing on the inside of the tank surfaces (A lot cheaper then having to buy the whole factory assembly). Made a shorter line from fuel filter housing output to tank output, original was too long and rubbed on top of the tank causing a pin hole, new line doesn't touch anything.
Also made the pump output to the regulator / filter housing shorter, this one fits snug around the regulator / filter housing, and when installed inside the tank it is snug in between the regulator / filter housing and the tanks fuel gauge housing, don't think that is going to vibrate and wear through like the factory line.
Also used constant tension fuel line clamps, similar to the original ones that are on the tanks output fuel line to the injector fuel rail. Didn't want to chance of screw type loosening from vibration, and didn't use the crimp type just in case the fuel line softened with age (constant tension fuel line clamps will self tighten). On the fuel line clamps, you will have to clip off the clamp tabs to slip it through the tank output threaded hole.
I bought a fuel pump kit for my car from this place below, they carry that type of fuel line you're looking for. If you want the factory Harley Davidson line it only comes attached to the fuel pump.

Modern fuel systems no longer use rubber components because of their incompatibility with modern enhanced pump gas which contains ethanol and other solvents such as toluene, xylene and MTBE. Unlike these flex tubes, rubber hose will break down very quickly when exposed to these types of fluids. This will allow vapors to leach into the atmosphere and cause the hose to swell and burst. Rubber particles may also contaminate a modern fuel system causing jet pumps, siphon pumps, check valves, regulators, diverters and injectors to fail. When replacing a fuel pump in a new fuel system, it is imperative that a new fuel tube be used. Racetronix uses fuel tubes in all of its late-model fuel pump assemblies to guarantee compatibly and reliability with the factory fuel system.

That's really crappy how they do that. They should have designed it so it wouldn't contact the inside of the tank.
I agree, especially since they do know it is a problem.

That's great, as long as you don't mind doing it again. So are the Softails the same setup as the Dyna's? Does it look just like the photos above?

Just make sure you get the submersible line, it is printed on the hose.

Better make sure the Gates hose is flexible enough. Those pvdf pump fittings wont take a whole lot of abuse if they're stressed.
Seems flexible enough that it isn't putting a load on the fittings, as well as not flexible enough to vibrate around to rub another hole thru the hose. Also I think these fittings are a little beefier then the one that goes to the external fuel rail.
