Default Baffles for stock exhaust

Can you remove the baffles from a stock exhaust on an '09 Dyna and replace them with something better? I like the look of the stock mufflers, but not the sound.

I don't think Harley has ever made stock mufflers with removable baffles. Over the years some owners have drilled or punched holes in the baffle you can get to from the outlet, to improve sound. I did it to my old '90! It will be interesting to hear if anyone has done that to an '09.

SuperTrapp make a muffler similar in appearance to stock, with their stacked baffle system hidden away inside. We have them on my wife's '03 Dyna and they are tunable to get the sound you want. May fit an '09.

I did it on my '07. Sounded pretty good, but I'm not a fan of the tapered muffler look, so I swapped them for a set of V&H slip ons.

I'm using a set of Screamin' Eagle "Torque" mufflers.
Looks like the stockers, but much better sound.

my 09 fatbob has 3 rivets holding each baffle in place. once rivets are removed you can use some silicone spray around the baffle and it will slide right out. I made my own baffles to go back in so i could keep the stock look. once i get a dyno done with the baffles i made i might start selling them.

On the 09 Strret Bob you can remove the baffles with not much problems. Remove the mufflers from the bike, drill the rivets out and pound the baffles out through the rear. Then try to punch a hole in the plug that is 1/4 of the way in the baffle. The bigger the hole the louder. I was able to remove the whole plug and it is louder than stock but not too lood, it is still just a little opening, nothing like some slip-ons. Then re-insert the baffle and resecure with new rivets or bolts.
It now sounds better ( to my ears, anyway) and I have not found much performance change, may be just a little more freer revving, but that could be psychological !!

Why are you waiting to get a dyno before you make your inovation available to the Forum public?

If I acquired a set of your inovative baffles, wouldn't I need to get my own dyno?

I want to make sure it is really improving the bike. I would hate to sell something to someone and it does not improve anything. I will say from stock to the new baffle the performance seems better but i have nothing on paper proving it. power it good all the way through to full throttle, steady and strong. sound is loud and the tone is deep.

And yes I am sure if you wanted to see what it was doing with your setup you will need to get a dyno of your own.
