Default Fatcat Height/Position.

Hi,i'm trying to decide which 2-1 System to fit to my 07FXD,my question is,are there 2 mounting positions for the muffler section,on a Fatcat.i've seen different pics of Fatcats on Dynas where the Muffler section seems to be mounted at different height/angles,I also think i've seen the same thing with Thunderheaders.

I believe for the 07 and later bikes there is more of an upswept design and for the 06 and earlier it is more flat. Or maybe the 05 and earlier. You can see them on the website, they have pictures of both. www.danddexhaust.com

Just looked. 06 and up have the upswept. Look under the catalog link, you'll noticed 2 Fat Cat under Dyna.

I should be able to tell you soon when mine get here for my '07 FXDC . They also have the Boarzilla line that are much more upswept than the Fat Cat line. I think the previous comments are correct about the '06 and later being more upswept. Take a look at rounder's ('05 FXDC) and WS6 Formula's ('06 Lowrider) WS6's has a more upswept look to it.

Thanks for the replies,So that explains the different angles, except maybe the pics that WS posted shows the 06 & Later Dyna, from the website & Ws's 06 Lowrider(beautifull bike) & the angle looks different on those pics,on the D & D pic the swingarm is almost hidden, but on the 06 Lowrider, the swingarm is much more visible & the muffler follows the line of the Swingarm, rather than sweeping up,if you see what I mean.

My understanding is the Boarzilla line is for large displacement motors. Don't waste your time/money if you're running stock displacement.

the difference you are seeing is due to ws6 forumla has 12" shocks and the fxd on the fatcat site has 12.6" shocks. Different shock lengths produce different angles for the swingarm to sit at.

But the other possibility is that WS6 may have used a set of pipes for a 2005 model Dyna. Can't tell whether there are any bung holes for the O2 sensors or not by the angle of the photos. Could be that he installed the 05 pipes and eliminated the O2 sensors hence the more level look of the pipes going back across the swingarm? Only WS6 knows for sure!

he did not. The 05 rear header pipe is different than the 06+. the rear pipe is shaped different and provides access to the oil and tranny dipsticks.

Thanks for the clarification. After I posted I looked more closely at the difference between the 05 and 06 pipes. I did notice the difference in the way the rear header more closely followed the jug with the 06 pipe than with the 05 pipe. Thanks again for the clarification. I have been considering this pipe for my 06 Low Rider but am concerned about the upsweep. How much would it interefere with a rider when cruising two up? I do like the though.
