Default Open air filters & rain?

I like the look of the open air filter with just a chrome air cleaner trim on the outside. My only concern is what do you do if you get cought it the rain? which happens from time to time. I'm sure water would get sucked in through the filter. Wouldnt this be a problem.

The rain socks work pretty good. They wont keep all the water out in a down pour but they do a good job. Search around and I am sure you can find one to fit the round filter.

Whats the size of the filter?

i have an open element - ride my bike everyday - rain or shine - in socal so it dont happen all that much, but ive been caught in 6 or 7 out right downpours iwth it on and havent had any proiblems - had more electrical problems (wet ecm) than air filter issues

I carry no guarantee, just experience

With an open element air cleaner you don't really have much to worry about unless it gets a big gulp up water i.e. temporarily submerged or a huge splash from riding through standing water. I've never had one on a bike but I had a cold air intake on my accord that I drove in the rain all the time with no problems. I know it's technically not the same but the filter was down in the fender and only about 8 inches off the pavement so you see the point i'm making.

I would think they would think that the bike would run lean if the filter got wet?
I leave my heavy breather element open, but alway carry the rain sock in case of rain..
