Default 21x3.25 jirehcycle rim laced to stock hub

what a forking headache!!!!!..................................... .....

With that being said I have finally had it done.

I started with a used hub and spokes from a wideglide.
The spokes were scraped and scratched up, so I dumbly bought a set of new stock wideglide spokes. I followed directions from the HD manual and laced them up, with 3/4 inch of leftover spoke sticking out. No way to tighten them up to true them out. I tried repeatedly and sought the help of different mechanics at the various dealers around town to no avail.

Called Buchanan, told them of my problem, who gave me a solution!! 9 1/4 spokes were sent to me, again I laced them up per HD directions, and they were to long. Pound my head against the wall........ pack it all up and mail the headache to Buchanan.

Received my laced and true wheel. Inspection reveals that they are not built according to HD instructions. The inside spokes are pointing in the same direction and the outside spokes are laced likewise in the same direction.

I was very excited to read about about the 21 option and jumped at the first opportunity to try it. I stressed at the process but, thankfully it all worked out.

thanks,
paul

no......no........no.......never again will I be so bold.

Much simpler to send them to Buchanan, very reasonably priced, and quick turn around time. Save yourself the stress.

I had the same issue lacing my SB hub to a wide glide hoop. After about 5 trys following the service manual I decided to try it a different way and it finally worked out.
