Sweet thanks!! That's what I was thinking about doing, but I found out you did it and wanted to check and see if there was anything different. So that works, it's simple and sounds like the plan. Oh and yea my tour pack came with the plate.

I like it!

What type of Tour pack is that?

What kind of bike bracket?

I need to set my bike up for touring.....if I decide to do some SERIOUS touring.

Thanks in advance.

Here's what I'm going with. I bought this tour pack from ebay and they have the same one as RonnR as well.

For the bike rack It's the HD detachable solo rack

Looks like the hardware he's using is just brackets from the hardware store. I'll be working on mine this weekend and I'll post pics when I get it done. The metal plate you see on the bottom comes with the tour pack and also has the hardware to mount that plate.

I couldn't find any of those brackets you have at the hardware store and the nearest home depot is 32 miles away. So I got some flat stock I'm going to cut and drill and try out.

Sorry if I stole your thunder.

I'm going to go get this done now.

You didnt steal my thunder, Just saved me some replying.
However the brackets your refering to came with mine..
Your link to the e-bay auction is correct and if you check the pack I got, it shows the brackets in the kit..
ONE WORD of caution ... The mounting bolts that came with mine are on the long side,,
They stick out under the HD rack quite a bit. Very possible to scratch fender when attaching to bike.. Dont ask.
