Default OIL PROBLEM

HEY GUYS-

I HAVE A 1985 FXSB1340. MY PROBLEM IS WHEN THE BIKE SITS FOR ANY PERIOD OF TIME... THE OIL TANK DRAINS INTO THE CRANK CASE AND THE LONGER IT SITS THE MORE OIL IT DRAINS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS COULD BE A WEAK OIL PUMP SPRING. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS??

THANKS!!!

Or a worn check ball/valve too. Thats the drain point passing oil to the cases. Common with time and dirty oil wears it out and an easy DIY on an EVO.

My Royal Enfield wet sumps if it sits for a while and will fog the neighborhood with nasty blue smoke. Cool stuff!

Default RE: OIL PROBLEM

I had the same problem on with my '57. One time I squirted about a quart of oil out on the floor at work through my crankcase breather. Fixed it by doing the following. Bought 2 new check *****. Brazed a shaft on one of the ***** and used it to lap the seat in the oil pump. You gotta clean the pump good after. Re-assembled the pump with a new spring and ball. Never had that problem again. Good luck.
