I'm curious if the spline is the same on a Dyna as a Softail or a Touring Bike. Can they be inter-mingled from model to model. The catalogues dont give specs. Thanks, creaky1

The spline shaft on all Dynas is only long enough to accommodate a single shift lever. On all Softails and Baggers I've looked at the spline is longer and takes two shift levers to do heel-toe. I had considered using a Softail linkage, but the boss that the spline shaft passes through on the primary is much longer on the Softail. I suppose that you could make it work with a little fab work, but I wasn't feeling that adventurous.
There was (could still be) a part for the Police Special that is a one piece heel-toe shifter that would fit a Dyna, but it's only suited for running floorboards. The toe and heel shifters both curve up from the spline, requiring that you lift your foot off the peg for every shift. If you invert the shift lever it will hit the primary cover.
The Dewey's Heel Hammer looks like a much better fit, but I'm pretty sure it will interfere with my heel rests (sigh).
How about this idea...a toe/toe shifter. Still a "work in progress", looks wise. This works good with forwards. With my stock lever, it seemed I always had to take my foot off the peg for one or the other, no matter how I set the lever...
Are you using the heel hammer with boards or a peg? Is it comfortable?
Also, did you have to do any mods to your dyna? Where did you purchase the heel hammer?
i got mine off ebay... according to dewey he isint making them anymore, but he may have a few left in stock...
works great!! i have it set so i can still use my shifter normally or with the heel as well...
